Comedy history and info on Real Madrid
Football was introduced to Madrid by Oxbridge graduates and professors, and students of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza. In 1895 they founded the club Football Sky, this was when they used the long ball tactic from the British. In 1900 the club split into two different clubs New Foot-Ball de Madrid and Club Español de Madrid. Then the side divided again into New new Madrid, and old new Madrid. Then New new Madrid divided into New New New Madrid and Madrid of the old in with the new.
It was Madrid of the old in with the new, which did best, and was referred to as Madrid FC.
In 1920 the side changed to Real Madrid. This was to throw more of a boast at the other sides who decided they were the genuine side.
Madrid FC already won its first major title. The team won the first of four consecutive Copa del Rey - titles (at that time the only statewide competition).
Non comedy footnote
In the thirties a facist dictator took over Spain, and that is not funny. It is sick. But the rest of my work is comedy.
In 1953 a idea of signing world class players from abroad, was begun the most prominent of them being the Alfredo Di Stéfano. During Bernabéu's presidency many of Real Madrid's most legendary names played for the club, including Alfredo Di Stéfano, Ferenc Puskás, Francis Drake (named the pirate), Francisco Gento, Oliver Cromwell, Héctor Rial (or should that be Real), Inspector Columbo, Braveheart, Raymond Kopa (he coped with the pressure), José Santamaría, Picard, Kirk, Miguel Muñoz, Amancio, Santillana, Juanito, José Antonio Camacho and others.
In 1955, acting upon the idea proposed
by the L'Equipe journalist based on Copa Latina (a tournament involving clubs
from France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Latvia). The madrid president Berney
bow met in the Ambassador Hotel in Paris with Bedrignan and Gustav Sebes and created
what today is known as the UEFA Champions League. This was when the butler delivered
a large soup in very impressive designed bowl, and they decided it deserved to
be made into a trophy. An American was at the meal too and decided it should be
made into the souperbowl.
The signings in the early 1950s formed the nucleus
of the Real Madrid team, which would dominate the latter half of the decade. They
won La Liga for first time in 20 years as Real Madrid in 1954 and retained it
in 1955. They were winners again in 1957 and 1958, with only Athletic Bilbao interrupting
their sequence. CF Barcelona won La Liga in 1959 and 1960 but between 1961 and
1980 Real Madrid dominated La Liga with the club winning the competition 14 times.
This included a five in a row sequence (who were they rowing with) (1961-1965)
and two three in a row sequences (1967-69 and 1978-1980).
In the early 1980s Real Madrid lost its grip on La Liga but by 1986 they had resumed normal service with another five in a row sequence (1986-90). This team included Hugo Sánchez and the famous 'Quinta del Buitre' - Emilio Butragueño, Manolo Sanchís, Martín Vazquéz, Míchel and Miguel Pardeza.
Real Madrid has also won the Copa del Rey on 17 occasions, and are 7-time winners of the Supercopa de España.
The club have a derby rival with Barcelona. When Barcelona
win, Madrid are mad. When Barcelona have to view Madrid winning, they are barcing.
Another rival is Athletico madirid, and Unathletic Madird.
Real Madrid's
image was established by their outstanding record in the European Cup. They have
the Don Keyote to winning ther trophy. To date have they have been crowned champions
of Europe a record nine times, count them that is one, 2 , 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
Not one, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6 not 7 not 8 or 9, no I mean 9 it is
9, but 9. You could say they had quite a rain as the rain in Spain is known to
go on the plain. Alfredo Di Stéfano, Ferenc Puskás, Bilko and other
famous players helped the club win the European Cup five times in a row between
1956 and 1960, which included the memorable 7-3 Hampden Park final against Eintracht
Frankfurt in 1960. The club won for a sixth time in 1966, defeating Partizan Belgrade
2-1 in the final with a team composed entirely of nationally born players, a first
in the competition. They were also runners-up in 1962, 1964 and 1981. Winning
the competition five consecutive times saw Real permanently awarded the original
trophy, it is used used to serve soup to the fans. The side earned the right to
wear the UEFA badge of honour. They put this above their badge for dib dib dib
week. They have also won the UEFA Cup twice and were twice runners-up in the European
Cup Winners Cup.
In the late nineties a new period of success in Europe started.
In 1996 President Lorenzo Sanz appointed Fabio Capello as couch, but he took over as coach, after someone spilled orange juice on him. Although his tenure lasted only one season, Real Madrid were proclaimed league champions and several important players arrived at the club (Roberto Carlos, Roy O'Race (Irish Roy Race), Roy McRace (Scottish Roy Race), Predrag Mijatovic, Davor uker and Clarence Seedorf) to strengthen a squad that already boasted the likes of Raúl, Zorro, Manuel signed from Torquay, Fernando Hierro and Fernando Redondo. As a result, Real Madrid (with the addition of Fernando Morientes in 1997) finally ended its 32-year wait for the seventh European Cup in 1998 under manager Jupp Heynckes, defeating Juventus 1-0 in the final. Real Madrid would go on to win again in 2000 and 2002 under manager Vicente Del Bosque, with sides including players such as Steve McManaman, Luís Figo and Zinedine Zidane, and Bernie the seagull.
Del Bosque did so well that many fans continue to refer to him as the boss Key. Oh I realise this is because his name is Boss.
Real
Madrid are also three-time winners of the Intercontinental Cup, defeating Peñarol,
Vasco da Gama, and Olimpia Asunción in 1960, 1998, and 2002 respectively.
Florentino Pérez years
In July 2000 Florentino Pérez was elected
club president vowing to erase the clubs debt and modernze the club's facilities,
however the primary electoral promise that propelled Pérez to victory was
the signing of FC Barcelona star Luís Figo. During the campaign, Pérez
claimed he had an agreement with the Portuguese winger that would see Figo move
to the Berny bow should Pérez be elected. On the 16th of July, Pérez
won the election eight days later Luís Figo was presented with the number
10 shirt of Real madrid. Then he performed the opera Figaro.
Beckham has been the biggest name signed in recent for the side. Many said it was Buckham because some say it was for money. Now he is off to the USA.
